The Xipan Center for Consultation and Nonviolence provides corporate, government and not-for-profit agencies with highly effective nonviolence training and development tailored to fit your individual needs. We are a multicultural team of counselors and business management professionals committed to shaping violence-free workplaces for our clients. Our team is composed of skilled consultants with relevant diversity, communication, conflict resolution, and corporate teambuilding skills. All of our consultants are highly qualified with national experience. Each team member has extensive experience in a variety of cultural settings and a strong commitment to advancing people's ability to increase nonviolent interactions.

Theory of Consultation

Our theoretical approach is triadic and cognitively orientated. We focus on our client's cognitions and meanings in an objective manner, while creating an environment that is conducive to open communication. We also focus on conflict resolution skills, which allow individuals to resolve issues at the lowest possible level. Our team members work with people to re-structure the work environment and incorporate a sense of autonomy, individual challenge, and task expectations for employees. We also help to define employee perceptions and collaborate together in ways that work for you and your organization. We allow groups to acknowledge any difficulties that they are facing and then lead them constructively to reduce obstacles that prevent them from moving forward.

What Produces Workplace Violence?

Workplace violence refers to repeated, harsh actions of individuals directed towards an employee, which is intended to frighten.  Workplace violence creates a risk to the health and safety of the employee and often involves an abuse or misuse of power. Workplace violence includes behaviors that intimidate, offend, or humiliate an employee -- often in front of others. Violent behavior creates thoughts of defenselessness and undermines personal dignity. Organizational and institutional violence occur most often when violence is entrenched and accepted as part of the workplace culture.
